Turku Dance Camp will be taught in co-operation by internationally acclaimed teachers.
Monica Cagnani
Monica Cagnani has been the directress of Teatro Oscar DanzaTeatro in Milan since 1999, an institution offering dance and theatre training accredited by the Lombardy Region. She trained at the La Scala Academy Ballet School and with Jozo Borcic, and has performed at the Nervi Festival. A specialist in dance pedagogy and anatomy, she has been an artistic coordinator for Lombardia Danza and received Milan’s ”Ambrogino d’oro” in 2009 for her school’s educational project. Monica also lectures internationally and serves on dance certification exam boards, and has been a member of the UNESCO International Dance Council since 2011.
Katariina Edling
Born in Finland, Katariina Edling began her dance training in Turku before moving to Stockholm at the age 16 to study at the Royal Swedish Ballet School. In 1999, Katariina joined the Royal Swedish Ballet, where she was promoted to soloist in 2009. She has been a member of the touring company Stockholm 59° North since 2003 and has also worked in Estonia Teatri, in the Finnish National Ballet and in Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo. After her retirement from the Royal Swedish Ballet in 2018, she opened her own Pilates studio and ballet school in Nyköping. She is an active dancer and the artistic director of her own dance company, V/S [Versus], a unique fusion of ballet and ballroom dance.
MARKO JUUSELA
Born in Finland in 2000, Marko Juusela began his dance journey in Finland and, at the age of 15, received an invitation to study at the Vaganova Ballet Academy in Saint Petersburg, Russia, under the guidance of teacher Nikolay Tsiskaridze. After graduating, Juusela joined the Mariinsky Ballet, becoming the first Finn to do so. In 2022, Juusela joined the Polish National Ballet and is now a soloist dancer in the company. His repertoire in the Polish National Ballet includes notable roles such as Albrecht in ”Giselle”, Solor in ”La Bayadere” and Basilio in ”Don Quijote”. Additionally, he won the Vaganova Prix and achieved second place in the ”All Russian Ballet Competition.” He is also a board member of the Finnish dance association Ruusuilla tanssijat and the artistic director of Turku Dance Camp.
GISELLA ZILEMBO
Graduate in Performing Arts from University La Sapienza in Rome, Gisella Zilembo has a professional qualification in Performing Arts (Theatre and Dance) UE. She is a coach and manager with many years of experience in the entertainment field. Zilembo is the founder and owner of EventiDanza, and General Manager of MAB – Maria Antonietta Berlusconi association. For MAB, she designs and manages events with stars such as Caridad Martinez, Julio Bocca and Roberto Fascilla.
Heidi Zolty
Heidi Zolty is an Examiner with Cecchetti USA and a Fellow Instructor with Cecchetti Canada and ISTD UK, and regularly serves as a guest instructor for the Cecchetti Institute and Cecchetti USA. She has been training ballet dancers since 1990, founding HZ Ballet Classique in Vancouver and more recently The English Ballet School in Finland. At age 17, Zolty was accepted into PACT Ballet as a member of the Corps de Ballet. At 20, she received a soloist position with the Oldenburg State Theater Germany, where she danced several principal roles. She earned her Enrico Cecchetti Diploma in 1989 and was awarded her Fellowship with Distinction in 1995. In 2022, Zolty joined the Cecchetti USA board of examiners.
